Stained Polished Concrete:
L & M Vivid Concrete Polishing Dye is formulated using extremely fine molecules of color designed to penetrate and color any interior concrete surface. Vivid Concrete Polishing Dye is ideal for use with the FGS PermaShine polished concrete floor system, but can also be used as a base color or touch up for acid stained concrete or as a coloring agent itself. Concrete stain is not a paint or coating agent, rather, it is a coloring process involving an internal chemical reaction within your floor produced by the application of a colored solution designed to color a surface by penetration without hiding it. One of the most popular ways to color concrete is acid staining. However acid is not the ingredient that colors the concrete, it is metallic salts in an acidic water based solution reacting with hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide) in hardened concrete which creates insoluble colored compounds in your concrete floor. Stained polished concrete looks very well on new or old concrete, decorative polymer overlays, and self leveling products. Each concrete slab accepts stain in varying degrees of intensity, creating stunning multi-hued color variations for a perfectly aged look that will not chip, crack or peel under normal wear conditions.
Sealing and Protecting Concrete Floor:

Sealers actually penetrate into the concrete surface to a depth of about 1 to 4 mills to increase water repellency and resist stains on absorbent concrete. Film forming solvent and water based acrylic sealers inhibit penetration of water and contaminants such as oil, grease, and stain by forming a barrier on the concrete surface. When used on newly placed concrete, sealers can help protect against spalling, dusting, efflorescense, freeze-thaw damage, and alkali degradation. Many also impart a gloss or sheen, so they often are used to enhanced colored, stamped, or exposed aggregade concrete.
